LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS AND AFRICA:

The Opening Ceremonies for the London 2012 Summer Olympics will occur
on July 27,2012. The Summer Olympics allows countries to showcase
their best athletes in 36 sports. The typical sports many viewers are
used to seeing include track athletics, swimming, volleyball, tennis,
and gymnastics. Women’s Boxing is a new event which was added to the
London 2012 Olympic program. The continent of Africa is sending well
over 450 athletes to participate in the Summer 2012 Olympic Games,
with South Africa(133), Egypt(117), Morocco (72),and Nigeria(53)
sending the most athletes. West Africa is sending more than 150
athletes to the Olympics. Ghana, West Africa will only be sending 9
athletes to represent the country, but there are several Ghanaians in
foreign countries who will be participating in the Olympics as well.

AFRICA FASHION WEEK NEW YORK JULY 12-14, 2012

Designers, Photographers, Bloggers, Models, and other invited guests from all over the world gathered at 41 Broad Street to witness Africa Fashion Week in New York City (AFWNY). The Runway shows occurred on three back to back nights, opening up with the Francis Hendy collection and closing with Nadir Tati. Ghana (Studio D Maxsi, Ill La La Designs, MABM, Ani Siyah), Nigeria (House of Marie, Agama Label), Zimbabwe (Farai Somoyi), Ethiopia (Fikirte Addis), Uganda (Vanessa Mukasa), Angola (Nadir Tati), Liberia (Korto Momolu)and many other African countries were represented by the vast array of designers at Africa Fashion Week New York, an event created by Adiree. The following designers showcased: Francis Hendy, Mafi, Kibonen, Geraldo Fashions, Haly Diallo, Bill Witherspoon, Attolle Collection, Nakuin, Henna flower, Fienes Couture, Mesanga Fashion House, Farai Simoyi, Sheaffa Delince, Vanessa Mukasa, Gustavo Garcia, Lisa Keating, Agama Label, Ill la la Designs, Korto Momolu, MABM, House of Marie, Fikirte Addis, Allex Kangala, Studio D-Maxsi, Marianne G.G, Afritili, Leonche, Ani Siyah, Peter Walden, Kachi Designs, and Nadir Tati.
